🎮 Top 7 Netflix Games to Play on Your TV 📺

Right on the heels of launching the game controller on mobile. Netflix is moving at a fast pace and now testing cloud-streamed games on TV. This means select subscribers can enjoy their favourite titles not just on mobile, but also on TVs through the Netflix app.

The launch titles are — “Molehew’s Mining Adventure” which is described by Netflix as a “gem-mining arcade game” and “Oxenfree”.

The supernatural thriller adventure game developed by Night School Studio where a group of friends accidentally open a ghostly rift while on a trip to an old military island. You play as Alex, a bright and rebellious teenager, who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on the island. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a to aliens or is it ghosts or time travellers!?

This is a great first title Netflix has decided to bring to TV and it’s going to be an immersive experience. The visuals of “Oxenfree” are atmospheric and eerie which along with the soundtrack gives me a Stranger Things vibe. On TV, the intricate details of the game’s environment, the island, the caves, and the abandoned facilities, will be great to further immerse in the game.

The game’s atmospheric soundtrack along with the radio mechanism tuning creates & adds another level of tension to the soundtrack with strange voiceovers revealing bits & pieces of the mystery while simultaneously making it even more murkier. I can’t wait to play this on TV.

This had me thinking, about other current games from the Netflix platform that will be awesome & immersive on the big screen.

Here are the 7 Netflix games I’d like to play on the biggest screen in my house.

1. Twelve Minutes

The interactive thriller adventure which revolves around a man trapped in a time loop, reliving the same 12 minutes inside his apartment. Each turn, you learn from the loop to solve a mystery that involves your wife and a police detective. This game will be quite fun to play on TV. The unique top-down perspective and detailed apartment setting will be accentuated on a larger screen, making every decision even more crucial. The atmospheric soundtrack, combined with the voice acting of its star-studded cast — James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe, will be even more enveloping on a TV. I think the game’s narrative-driven nature makes it perfect for group playthroughs where my friends and I can discuss strategies, and theorise about the unfolding mystery gathered around the TV.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

The beat ‘em-up game inspired by the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. The pixel-based visual style will be more vibrant and detailed. The game’s music, composed by Tee Lopes, will sound richer and more immersive on TV speakers. Elements like the unique super moves of each character and the in-game environments will be more visually striking. I’m excited to see how the game’s chaotic brand of local multiplayer entertainment comes alive when I play this on TV with my friends.

3. Spiritfarer

This is one of my favourite Indie cosy games. You play as Stella, a Spiritfarer and you have to guide spirits to the Everdoor, after which they become a constellation in the sky. This game is already available on PC & consoles. Those who have only played it on mobile will surely enjoy the art style on TV, where you can just sink into the beautiful & vibrant of Spiritfarer. The game’s soundtrack is serene and calming, something I listen to when I’m working. I have played this on mobile via Netflix & on PC via Steam. I haven’t completed the game yet, I’ll love to play the rest of it on TV.

4. Immortality

This game got a lot of fanfare on launch, in this game, you have to solve the mysterious disappearance of a young actress, Marissa Marcel. To do that, you have to watch and interact with three unreleased film projects of Marissa Marcel. Since this game is mostly watching film footage, a bigger screen is ideal. The intricate details of each film, combined with the eerie atmosphere, will be accentuated on a larger screen. I’ve only dipped into this game and haven’t played it yet, this will be great to play on a weekend where my partner and I can both go through the films and try to uncover the mystery behind Marissa’s disappearance.

5. Laya’s Horizon

Another one of my favourite games which I reviewed recently. In this game, you dive off mountains and fly, weaving across forests, and gliding over rivers. The beauty of the island, from the winding rivers to the towering rock formations, will be more vivid on a larger screen. The game’s exciting score will sound more immersive when played through TV speakers. Elements like the high-speed races and the challenge levels will be more visually captivating and I’m excited to explore it all on my living room TV.

6. Oxenfree 2

Since Oxenfree is the launch title. I am assuming Netflix will soon launch “Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals” too. The supernatural thriller adventure game continues the eerie narrative of the original “Oxenfree”. This game will be awesome for all the reasons Oxenfree is awesome on TV. I’ll dive into Oxenfree 2 right after playing Oxenfree.

7. Monument Valley

The indie puzzle game where you guide the silent princess Ida through a world filled with optical illusions and impossible architecture that is Escher-inspired will shine on a TV, making each level a piece of art. The ambient soundtrack of “Monument Valley” will be even more meditative and relaxing.

Netflix’s gaming evolution is in full swing, I hope they expand it to more countries soon and as more titles from their existing library as well as new games.

One thing’s clear, Netflix isn’t just for binge-watching anymore.
